Let's start by considering what you are looking for in a dive site.
If you are an experienced diver, you are probably looking for:
Comfort
Interesting marine life and landscapes.
Good visibility.
Variety of dives.
If you are a beginner diver, you are looking for more or less the same, but focus more on easy diving.
Why?
Because probably you still have little or no control over the activity, equipment, or marine environment.

Lanzarote is the ideal place for experienced divers, beginners, or for your first dive or course.
And here we will tell you why from beginning to end...
The 9 reasons why you should dive in Lanzarote.
1. In Lanzarote, you can dive all year round.
And this is an island famous for its winds that blow almost all year round.
In January, February, August, or November. No matter when, it is very, very rare that you can't dive in Lanzarote any day of the year.
Why is this?
Most of the dives are on the island's southwest side, protected from the Trade Winds, which, if you don't know, are prevailing in the Canaries.
They blow from the NE (North East) to the SW (South West) in the Northern Hemisphere.
In addition, the Canary Islands have a subtropical climate, stable almost all year round. The eternal spring they call it.
This means that you are very likely to have a sunny day with good temperatures.
Not only the climate of Lanzarote is ideal for diving.
The sea conditions are also excellent.
The water temperature ranges from 18º in winter (January, February, and March) to 24º in summer (August and September).
There are hardly any currents and when there are it is very easy to deal with them.
2. Almost all dives can be done from the shore.
But... Don't be alarmed, experienced divers.
Of course, you can dive from a boat, but I am afraid they are not live-aboard boats.
But this is a great advantage from my experience because you can always dive without having to rely on a boat.
If the boat breaks down... you can dive.
If the skipper gets sick...you can dive.
You get seasick on boats...you can dive.
If you want to save fuel to protect the environment...you can also dive.
But if you want to dive from a boat, just tell your dive center.
3. It is the ideal place to do your first dive or to get your first scuba diving licence.
There are several dive sites where you can take your first dives, which are not only very easy but also very interesting.
It is not the same to make your first dive by jumping off a boat as by entering a beach with the water up to your waist. Don't you think so?
If you are going to do your Open Water course. Is even better.
Lanzarote offers you all the options to learn.
Entry from the beach, from the boat, descent with a line, descent with the bottom as a reference, or free descent.
And if that wasn't enough, you can do your confined water sessions in the sea, at less than 6 meters, with spectacular visibility and countless fish watching as you learn how to empty your mask.
4. There are dives for all levels.
For experienced divers and tec divers.
Lanzarote is a volcanic island and that is why the surrounding platform is very steep. That means you can go from 0 to 100 and beyond in a few minutes and again...without needing a boat.
There are also very, very interesting dives at depths of less than 20 meters in all the dive sites around the island.
Very easy ones, with lots of life and great visibility.
5. You have here one of Europe's best diving spots.
In Puerto del Carmen. One of the island's tourist resorts.
A unique dive site where you can find more than 15 different dives.
Here, alongside the coast, we find a volcanic reef that runs through the town from beginning to end.
This reef is home to many marine species and is also full of caverns, caves, tunnels, and nooks and crannies that are worth exploring.
And as if that wasn't enough, there are also two dive sites with wrecks.
6. Great variety and quantity of marine species.
From the small Blue Fin Damselfish, which is so aggressive and territorial that some say that if they were the size of groupers nobody would enter the water, to the king of the Canary Islands waters, the beautiful "Angelshark" (Tiburón Angel).
There are also frequent encounters with Black Stingrays and Common Stingrays, big Groupers, Abbot, Skipjack Tuna, Jacks, Sea Eagles, Bull rays, etc.
Not to mention smaller species such as Octopus, Cuttlefish, Nudibranchs, Moray Eels, and many others.
7. Very close to the Marine Reserve of "La Graciosa e Islotes del Norte de Lanzarote".
Did you know it is the biggest marine reserve in Europe?
Now you know.
If you want to dive there, you only have to jump to the Island of La Graciosa.
Only 25 minutes from the village of Órzola, in the North of Lanzarote.
You can stay for several days or go and come back on the same day.

8. The first underwater museum in Europe is located in Lanzarote.
It is definitely an interesting dive and a must-do if you come diving in Lanzarote.

9. It is easy and simple to dive here.
I'm not just talking about the dives, but about the wide range of diving on offer.
There are more than 50 dive centers spread from north to south of the island.
Finding the right dive center is crucial because they are responsible for the success or failure of your diving experience.
We usually stick with the one that is the closest to our hotel, or the one that gives us the best prices.
And I think these are good reasons, but there are many other reasons to take into consideration, although this is material for another post.
