The 9 best activities to do in Lanzarote

Updated: Mar 3, 2023

The first thing I want to clarify is that this post will not talk about the places you can visit in Lanzarote.

Of course, there are many interesting and beautiful places to visit such as Timanfaya National Park, Los Jameos del Agua, La Cueva de Los Verdes, El Mirador del Rio, and the Cesar Manrique Foundation.

But I want to tell you about fun activities with a bit of action, so you can enjoy your time on the Island of Lanzarote to the fullest.

And no, I'm not going to talk about diving either.

One of the most special things about the Canary Islands is that you can do almost any outdoor sport or activity.

Although, I don't recommend that you come here with the intention of skiing or snowboarding.

From the north of Lanzarote, through Costa Teguise, Arrecife, Puerto del Carmen, and Playa Blanca, you have a complete island with lots of activities.

You have a complete island with lots of activities to enjoy with your family or friends and that are not the typical excursions to the typical tourist places, where everybody goes.

To do with your friends, your partner, or your children so that you won't have a single moment of boredom.

In or out of the water, you will find recommendations for all tastes in this post.

1.The 9 best activities to do in Lanzarote

1.4. Buggies.

1. Jet ski excursion:

Riding a jet ski on the water at high speed is a sensation out of the common.

Drive along the coast of Lanzarote and see the most interesting spots.

The best thing is that you can drive yourself following a guide.

Just imagine.

Jump over the waves and have a lot of fun in the turquoise waters of Lanzarote.

The minimum age to drive is 16 years old with permission from parents or legal guardians and minimum of 6 years old to do the activity as a companion.

2. Banana Boat:

Another fun activity.

An inflatable banana that will make you bounce and enjoy yourself until you can't do it any more.

The minimum age to participate is 8 years old.

The activity lasts about 10 minutes and up to 8 people can participate at the same time.

An exciting and fun activity to do in a group or with the family and to have a good laugh.

3. Crazy Donut.

Another very simple and super fun activity.

It consists of an inflatable donut attached to a boat that will take you across the surface of the water at full speed.

Jump and bounce along the coast of Lanzarote.

The best way to get your adrenaline pumping. Have a great time flying over the waves.

Guaranteed fun for young and old.

The minimum age to participate is 8 years old.

4. Buggies.

A route along the dirt roads of Lanzarote in a buggy is an experience you can't miss on your holidays.

Off-road routes in which you will go through different places with fun and adrenaline guaranteed.

If you have never driven a buggy before, this is an experience you have to try.

Climb hills, go down slopes, and laugh your head off while the dust covers you from top to bottom.

The minimum age to drive is 20 years old and with a driving licence.

There is no minimum age for a passenger, but you must be at least 1.35 m tall.

5. Stand-Up Paddle.

Either with a guided tour or by renting it, Stand-Up Paddle is another activity you can enjoy in Lanzarote.

Just standing up on the board will be a challenge; once you do it, you get a spectacular ride along the coast of Lanzarote.

A very easy and fun activity to enjoy alone, in a group or with friends and family, and with which you will discover new sensations.

6. Paragliding.

Another activity that will undoubtedly get your adrenaline pumping.

A tandem flight through the sky of Lanzarote gives you the opportunity to see the island and its landscape from another point of view.

Feeling the altitude and the wind and creating an unforgettable memory of your holiday.

A unique and spectacular activity.

Fly over Lanzarote and be aware of the beauty and contrasts that this island has to offer.

7. Ryker excursion.

A different way of touring the island, either with a guided tour or by renting one.

An automatic 3-wheel drive vehicle that will give you a new driving experience.

Travel the roads of the island in a fun vehicle. Something new, exciting, and different to do during your holidays in Lanzarote.

8. Dolphin Tour.

Did you know that 2 thirds of the planet's cetaceans pass through the Canary Islands or live nearby?

Yes, they do.

And you should not miss the opportunity to go out to sea to meet them.

The experience is well worth it, and you get to see them in their own habitat, not locked up in a swimming pool, doing pirouettes.

Besides, you don't only get to see dolphins.

It is very easy to come across other species of cetaceans. Fin whales, Sperm whales. Pilot whales and even Orcas have been sighted in Lanzarote's waters.

9. Catamaran Excursion.

If you fancy a day out sailing, a catamaran trip is ideal.

Another activity with family and friends is enjoying the ocean, the beaches, and the coast of Lanzarote.

You have a lot of options available: Excursions for a full day or just for several hours. Go in a group with more people or make a private cruise.

You have many possibilities at your fingertips. Choose the one you like the most and set off on another adventure.
